Prints of the highest caliber

Revolutionary technology meets time-honored craftsmanship

Jonathan opts for the "face-mount" technique using the Diasec process, originally developed in Germany. This museum-quality, archival method situates the print just 1/8” from the front surface, offering remarkable immediacy. Unlike traditional framing, where light reflects off glass, Diasec prints enable direct reflection off the print, enhancing tones and sharpening the image, giving it a glowing appearance. The contrast with traditional methods is remarkable.

Jonathan’s diasec prints are a fusion of cutting-edge printing techniques and meticulous craftsmanship:

  1. A loose fine art paper print is created using industry-best ink, paper, and printers.

  2. The paper print is bonded to anti-glare acrylic using an optically-clear adhesive, passing through a specialized machine with heated rollers.

  3. 3mm thick dibond (rigid aluminum) is mounted to the back, forming a three-layer sandwich, the print hermetically sealed between the acrylic and dibond.

  4. A fine art marker is run along the edge of the print to eliminate the paper’s white edges for a refined presentation.

  5. The print is then affixed to a concealed wooden frame.

  6. A custom-milled outer wooden frame, coated with three layers of paint is added, concealing all joinery for a minimalist aesthetic.

  7. The print is elegantly "floated" within the outer frame, maintaining a 1/4” gap between the print and the frame.

A French Cleat system is used to hang the print on the wall so that the frame sits flush against the wall.

“Each piece demands over 100 hours of meticulous work in the field and studio—researching, shooting, editing, proofing, printing, mounting, and framing. The aim is to craft something truly distinctive and extraordinary.”

Perfection is in the Details

  • Transcendent Printing

Jonathan's prints, crafted by a top-notch fine art printer in Chicago, USA, feature state-of-the-art technology for exceptional quality. Collaborating with prominent galleries, artists, and photographers, their cutting-edge process ensures industry-leading tonality and meticulous attention to detail in every print.

  • Custom-milled Framing

Jonathan's prints are paired with custom-designed "float" frames crafted from natural wood in collaboration with an artist-woodworker. Meticulously hand-milled using traditional techniques, these frames boast exceptional craftsmanship. Each frame features a hidden inner frame and a painted outer frame, creating a subtle 1/4” float gap around the print. Precision construction with tolerances as fine as 1/64” ensures a seamless finish. The black frames, though they appear deep black, are actually a custom "off-black" shade, free from the blue or green undertones often present in standard black or grey paints.

  • Edition Integrity

Jonathan carefully curates print availability to maintain their uniqueness and value. Limited editions, ranging from 3 to 9 prints per size per image, are signed, titled, and numbered on the back, with 2 Artist Proofs (AP) for quality control. Once sold out, prints are not available directly from Jonathan.
